Review: Limelily Cosmetics

Limelily Cosmetics are a Melbourne based cosmetics manufacturer, who were kind enough to send me a very generous range of samples.

After swatching and smelling and playing and experimenting, I can heartily recommend the product.

Apparently they do a lot of business with schools and tafe colleges, and it's not hard to see why - these products are very forgiving. The pigments are gentle - one swipe gives you a barely-there tint, but by layering you can build up to quite dramatic colour.  This makes the range very versatile.. so whether really natural looks are you thing, or like me, you prefer loud and proud makeup statements, you'll be able to get what you want out of this.

I had a lovely play with a rainbow of colours and created this Opulent Peacock Look:

What I used:

  • Corrective concealer in green
  • Foundation in Sunny Beige
  • Translucent Powder
  • Eyeshadows:
    • Inside Eye highlight: Goldmine (inside eye)
    • Blended across eyelid: Promise, Aquatic, Sky Blue, Purple Cloud
    • Under Lower lash line: Goldmine, Bon Bon, Posie and Graphite
    • Outer corner of eye and shadowing: Silver and Graphite
    • Under brow highlight: Frost, Dragonfly
  • On Lips:
    • Lip Pencil in Ruby
    • Pomegranate Lipstick
  • Eyeliner in Jet
  • Waterproof Mascara
  • Powder Blush in Radiant

Because I wanted to show you all the colours and the swatches but I didn't want to clog up this blog post with a million pictures, I made a nifty slideshow of all them:

The other thing worth noting about this system is that it's customisable. LimeLily sell the palettes empty, and all the pans are made to a standard size - so you can put together your own 1, 4, 6 or 12 pan collection. Being able to grab a 4 pan palette with foundation, blush, eye shadow and lippy in it for your evening makes for a very small investment in handbag space and weight but gives you everything you need for touch ups on the go. I love that the magnetised palette keeps the pans secure, but they are very easy to pop out and change as well. It's a cruelty-free brand as well!

So.. LimeLily. Worth checking out! You can pick up their stuff on their website (eyeshadow pans are just $8, so it won't break the bank!) is the place to go.

**Please note, as stated above, these products were kindly provided for consideration by LimeLily. My opinions, as always, remain my own.

  1. wow these colours are amazing- I see you're getting into the festive spirit already :D

  2. Hi Cecylia! Thanks for your comment! I am willing to use any excuse to go wild with eyeshadow colours! The good thing about these is they would also be suitable if you wanted a more subtle look as well :)
