Which Sample Box is the Best?

I have been asked this a lot lately.. if you're only in the market for one sample box a month, which one should you get?

First you should ask yourself if sample boxes are for you at all. If your brand loyalty is generally low (you don't have a few favourite products that you staunchly stick to), if trying new things is exciting and interesting to you, not stressful, if you're the kind of person that goes nuts at the samples counter at your local cosmetics counter.. then sample boxes are probably something you will enjoy getting.

There's lots of choices, here are the ones I get:

  • Glossy Box
  • The Beauty Basket
  • Lust Have It
  • I Love this Box
  • BellaBox
They all cost around $15 a month. Every single one of them, every month, you will get more than your money's worth back in product. Whether it's product you want or not, is another story.. and everyone has different tastes. It's only great valye if you are using most of what you're getting in the boxes. Which box is the best is always going to come down to your personal preferences.

Here's a bit of a breakdown to help you decide:

In summary:

  • GlossyBox  - Lots of skincare, some makeup and nails, less haircare & perfume. High variety of brands and at least 1 full size sample in each box.
  • The Beauty Basket - Lots of skincare, some perfume, less makeup and haircare. Also comes with a free magazine subscription to Just B magazine.
  • Lust Have It  - Lots of skincare, some makeup, less Haircare, perfume and nails. A wider spread of products more often, less brand repetition.
  • I Love this Box  - Lots of skincare, some Makeup and haircare, less nails and perfume. Lower number of samples overall, lots more full size samples.
  • Bellabox  - Mostly skincare, less makeup, occasionally perfume and nails. High variety of brands, many of which you'll probably be hearing about for the first time. Larger number of smaller samples.
