Aussie Curves: Sparkle!

The theme for this week's blog hop is "Sparkles!". When you read "fashion guides for fat girls" you will see a lot of "DONTs". Don't wear stripes. Don't wear bright colours. Don't wear anything shiny. Don't draw attention to yourself.. don't, don't don't.

Don't, for heavens sake, SPARKLE.

Well.. you know what I have to say about that? Well, actions speak louder than words, don't you think?

Melbourne graced us with an absolutely gorgeous spring day today, so I did my best to sparkle in the sunshine..

I have this piece of red sequin material in my stash.. one day it's going to be a gorgeous gown of some description.. something Jessica Rabbit-ish I think.. until that day though, it just sits there taunting me..  So I draped myself in it today just to enjoy it's sparkle in the sunshine..

I am also wearing a red dress from target, and over that, a black sequinned cowl neck top I got from Millers.. it is the perfect thing to add a bit of sparkle to an evening's outfit. I'm holding it all together with a belt from City Chic.

The gorgeous fascinatior I am wearing is from a very talented local designer trading uner the name "Lush Cherry" - you can see some of her other reasonably priced creations at www.lushcherry.com.

The makeup - well, if you ever have the opportunity to go to a masquerade ball, and you need a mask - I highly recommend you paint one on. It's not nearly as tricky as it might sound and it is about a million times more comfortable than wearing an actual mask - not to mention you can match (or as in this case, contrast) with your outfit perfectly.

I put together a makeup tutorial for this look on my youtube channel so you can see how I did it:

It has microglitter eye dust, and rhinestones, and purple glitter on top of that.. that's a lot of sparkle!

Products I used:

  • Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer
  • Illamasqua Skin Base - Shade 2
  • Mirenesse Tight Liner - Sapphire Blue
  • MUA (Makeup Academy) Eye Dust - Shade 2
  • MAC Brush 228
  • the Balm Shady Lady Palette Volume three
    • Open to Offers Olwen
    • All the Way Annie
    • Envious Erin
    • Racy Kacy
  • Illamasqua Precision Liner- Alchemy
  • Illamasqua Precision Liner - Scribe

  • Sigma Eyeliner Brush - E05
  • Napoleon Colour Disc
  • Sigma Tapered Blending Brush -  E35

I hope you take the chance to sparkle whenever you can, whether you're wearing sequins or not.

What's your favourite item of sparkly clothing??

  6. WOW! I am loving your video, you had me mesmerized. I haven't had the need to 'mask it up' often. I think makeup would be much better than a physical mask. Your sparkle outfit is awesome. That looks like something I'd do, trying to soak up the Spring rays with my arms stretch out. Can't wait to see what you do with that fabric.
