Stealing, the highest form of flattery? You be the judge.

I know we like to keep things fun and friendly around here, but this is a very important issue that I can no longer be silent on. Read on if you're ready to tackle the serious stuff....

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I have a thief in my house. Here's a picture of the culprit, fresh from the hairdresser.

The Accused is fifteen years of age, and my daughter,  and my evidence may be a little biased, but I think she's gorgeous, funny, witty, and an absolute pleasure to be around. She does have a problem though - kleptomania.

It flares up especially around lip balms and glosses. She seems to be under the impression that as long as you smile and say "YOINK!!" while you are stealing an item that it's okay..  fair enough, say I.

In fact, I think it's a real testament to these products - Melodie is just getting into makeup, and she really likes natural looking things that are no mess and no fuss. They need to perform brilliantly and be really easy to use, otherwise they're too much hassle to make the cut.

So if you examine the list of "Things my Lovely Daughter Stole", what you've got is a great list of fantastic everyday products that work really well, and as an added bonus she had picked things that don't break the bank, either.

So, what's on Melodie's "Most Covetable" list? Here's the top three.

Number 1: Avon's Shine Attract Lipstick in Natural Glow. This is really interesting, it's a core of sheer colour encased in a clear gel moisturiser. You can build colour up with this, but one coat gives a great "my lips but better" pout. It's chock full of things that make your lips lovely, a colour and treatment in one. I got given this at a blogger event and Melodie couldn't take it fast enough! She's escaped all the nastiness of winter chapped lips because of this product.

Number two: Garnier's Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream - I was lucky enough to visit L'Oreal's head office for a Garnier event and was gifted a few items from their BB Cream range - this one included.  Melodie loves this because it's so natural looking - no danger of becoming a "cake face" (which in the lingo of teenagers is someone who wears too much makeup and looks bad as a result). I really love that when she's putting this on, she's wearing sunscreen on her face - so important! It really is the number one thing you can do to prevent premature aging. I also love that this is a supermarket product that's very easy on the wallet, so easy to keep it on hand for her. I use this too on days when I am wanting a "no makeup" look too - it's great stuff. If you haven't tried it yet, keep your eye out next time you're grocery shopping, you won't be disappointed.

Number three: Any blue nailpolish. Melodie only wears nailpolish on the weekends (not allowed at school), and most often likes blue! Her two favourites at the moment are both OPI and both from celebrity collections.. "Last Friday Night" from the Katy Perry collection and "Fly" from Nicki Minaj. "Last Friday Night" is a periwinkle blue with gorgeous holo glitter flakes in it, and "Fly" is a really bright brilliant turquoise.

So there you have it, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury - I accuse my daughter of having excellent taste, which obviously she inherited from me, and I accuse these products of being awesome. The Prosecution rests its case. Until next time, that is - stay tuned, lovely readers, I have a feeling this is going to be a continuing series.

Do you have someone in your house who steals.. I mean  borrows your beauty products?

    1. Yesterday's post notwithstanding, blue isn't really my thing, but even I am tempted by these, they're just so enticing :)

  4. Your daughter is so pretty! I love the colours that she has in her hair!

I have the same Avon lipstick/tinted balm and love it, my lips always feel so moisturised after. It's also great that you can wear it sheer or build it up for more coverage. :)

I was at the same Garnier event as you but shame we didn't get to say hi!

    xx
